In this blog, I am going to break down the exact Amazon Business strategy and framework I follow to reach $10K + months every month & create long-term sustainability!
Well, first, let me tell you a little about my discovery of this hybrid model and what wholesale bundles are…
I started my eCommerce journey on Amazon in 2008, selling used books and using…can you guess which business model I used first?
Yep, that’s right Retail Arbitrage.
It was great, fun, and exciting. I LOVE shopping!
But the downside of this model quickly bore its ugly teeth as I continued to grow and grow.
It was NOT sustainable.
As my amazon business continued to grow…
I outgrew the ability to continue going out to get products to fill my virtual shelves.
Even when I hired a full-time associate, we were both working between 50 and 60 hours plus per week to try and keep inventory full. It was just NOT feasible!
I was exhausted, missed being part of family game nights, and knew something had to change.
At a certain level of growth with retail arbitrage, sustainability is non-existent!
Are you in the same boat I was in?
So we pivoted into this grand idea -
At first, I had this grand idea 💡…
I was going to get all the products half off of retail price and make higher profit margins right from the start!
Yeah, but…
A major curveball was thrown at me.
Half-priced products and spiked profit margins were NOT the case! Instead, most of the product prices I found were about the same as you can get in the store.
“So now what?” you may be asking yourself. “What changed? How did you make wholesale work?”
Well, I started brainstorming.
I had plenty of this single-unit wholesale product (Shopkin Toys) that were flying off the retail shelves but wasn’t flying off my virtual shelves on Amazon.
In all honesty, I was actually losing money. We needed to do something fast!
I could try PPC…but that’s just throwing more money at a product that isn’t selling.
So I started coming up with ideas of what items may complement my single-unit item and bring more value to this product - an irresistible offer so we can “up” the price.
Then BAM, it finally hit me right as we were shopping in Walmart!
“Add a kids’ carry cart to compliment the Shopkins Toys,” and so...
Our first wholesale bundle ever was created.
I increased the price and listed it on Amazon, and the new wholesale bundle with Shopkins Toys was flying off the shelves!
I was finally able to make a hefty margin on a product I was initially losing money on.
So you may be wondering… what are wholesale bundles??
Wholesale bundles are highly complementary items that you source from wholesale vendors and/or private-label products. These products are sold together in a high-value product bundle you created that provides your buyer's value, speed, and convenience.
Other terms used to describe wholesale bundles would be gift sets, gift baskets, or kits.
Essentially a wholesale bundle is an entire collection of 2-6 products that are a natural fit in both function and use.
The perfect wholesale bundle would be a product combination that customers often purchase together, like shampoo and conditioner or peanut butter and jelly.
These bundles make life easier for the Amazon prime customer, 1-click ordering. Plus, they make life better for you as a seller because you face less competition and can earn better profit margins.
So, through my journey of finding Amazon business sustainability, I fell in love with wholesale bundles, and the Wholesale Bundle System was born.
