AF163 - The S-Word

Uncategorized Oct 12, 2020

When was the last time someone used the dreaded s-word on you? Did they tell you that you should do or be something, whether you should be farther in your Amazon business or should be doing an eCcommerce business model that everybody’s doing? Who told you that you should? Chances are, if it’s not your mother-in-law, it’s you. And if it’s you, you may need to check why you’re “should-ing” yourself into doing something: because should can be as bad as can’t.

In this episode, I discuss the dangers of the word “should.” I describe how it can stem from the fear of being judged or embarrassed and how it can take us away from the things we want to actually do. I discuss the only times it’s okay to consider an s-word situation and reveal an alternative to doing a should. I also discuss the value of creating your “In a Perfect World” scenario and emphasize the importance of cultivating the beginner’s mindset.

“If you use the s-word, make sure you’re analyzing it all the way down to its core: that you “should” do something because it’ll get you to where you want to be.” - Kristin Ostrander
